How can I save a schedule as a template? How do I import shifts?

You can save a weekly schedule / rota as a template and can import these templates or parts of the templates to any schedule.

How can I save a schedule as a template?

Open the schedule settings of an existing weekly rota. The only thing you need to do is add a name in the section "Save as template". That's it.

Be well advised to use a week in the pre-Staffomatic era / past. Create a schedule with all details you may require in the future and save it as a template to import these shifts into schedules in the future. This will save you a lot of time when planning shifts, if the shifts and possibly also the assignments are similar week by week. It is also easier to import shifts and delete a few of them other than creating every single one week by week.

A schedule that has been saved as a template is indicated by a document icon in the schedule navigation bar.

How do I import shifts?

Shifts can easily be imported into a new schedule using the import function.

  1. First you create a new schedule by clicking the plus in the schedule navigation bar. In the second step click on Actions/ 3-dot-menu and then on "Import shifts".
  2. Select the desired schedule template and decide whether you want to import assignments and also select the departments you want to add.
    1. This way you can also combine importing from distinct to templates to a single schedule.
  3. Finalize the process by clicking "save" only once! It will take some time for the copying process.

Delete template

Return to the template by navigating back to the original schedule that was saved as a template.
Delete the name of the template in the schedule settings. You may identify the original week and year by clicking on import shifts and remembering the date.
